Whoa Whoa, Wait a Minute…

Tom Holland can get excited sometimes. It comes with the territory when you’re Spider-Man and one of the biggest stars of this week’s Avengers: Infinity WarSo from time to time, the young Marvel actor’s interviews get into spoiler territory. Luckily for him, but unlucky for everyone else, Benedict Cumberbatch was there to keep him in line.

In a recent interview with The Extraordinary Xilla a simple conversation about lip features turns into Tom Holland explaining Miles Morales to Cumberbatch. Which is already a delight to watch. But then, Holland starts and stops to explain how Miles could or will factor into the Marvel Universe. The Miles discussion begins at the 0:50 second mark.

First of all, it looks as if Tom Holland stops just short of saying Miles is a sure thing when he’s asked the question. “We will…I’m sure down the line,” sounds like a bit of course correction there. Cumberbatch does seem genuinely uninformed on the character. Which means that Miles won’t be making a grand Infinity War debut. He is one of the few actors who read the entire Avengers: Infinity War script. But Holland looks just as excited about having Miles Morales in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as everyone else. He literally can’t stop himself from explaining the character to his Avengers co-star; very nearly leading into spoiler territory on the future of Marvel.

Dr. Strange and Spider-Man will be major pillars in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Considering Infinity War and Avengers 4 will be a swan song for many Marvel veterans. Kevin Feige and the people at Marvel Studios have always been looking to the future, ensuring that the stories they create will lead almost perfectly into the stories they will create.

Now it sounds like Miles Morales could be just as important to the future of Marvel as Tom Holland and Benedict Cumberbatch.
