Avengers: Infinity War Directors Give Update on Avengers 4 Trailer

Avengers: Infinity War has only been in the box office for a little over a week, but in the first nine days it’s been in the theaters it’s already grossed over $1 billion worldwide. Needless to say there is a ton of excitement for the film. Given that so many people have already seen the film, they are already wondering when we can start to see Avengers 4 updates.

ComicBook.com asked Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo when we could expect an Avengers 4 trailer. Joe Russo’s answer was pretty simple, “No idea.” He did go on to elaborate, “We haven’t cut any of the film together yet. We’ll have to see. We’ll get it set for the next two or three months.”

Anthony Russo elaborated where the two are in the production process of Avengers 4, “Joe and I always talk about it, there’s this filmmaking adage that goes, ‘You make a movie three times over: when you write it, when you shoot it, and when you edit it.” He then added they haven’t even finished shooting the film yet!

“And so, right now, we have not edited that movie at all. So we haven’t even gone through that whole phase of finding that film. Not only that, we haven’t even completely finished shooting it. We still have to shoot some stuff to complete the movie and even though we’ve shot the vast majority of it.”

If Marvel Studios sticks to a similar calendar as they did with Avengers: Infinity War, we could see the first trailer drop around Halloween. The first Avengers: Infinity War trailer dropped on November 29, 2018. However, they did reveal a trailer at San Diego Comic Con in July of 2018. It’s possible, the Russo brothers and Marvel Studios might be able to put a trailer together by San Diego Comic Con this year and then release the first official trailer sometime in October. However, they might be more focused on promoting Captain Marvel at San Diego since it comes out in March of 2019, two months before Avengers 4.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently in theaters. Captain Marvel will hit theaters on March 6, 2019, and Avengers 4 is expected to debut on May 3, 2019.
