First Watchmen TV Set Photos Surface – Feature Don Johnson

Watchmen

HBO’s upcoming Watchmen television series is surging forward as filming has recently begun. And with filming beginning we are already getting our first set of leaked set photos.

Hollywood Pipeline revealed nine different photos of Don Johnson in a police uniform. He appears to be a Captain or a Commissioner. He definitely appears to be someone of importance give his fancy outfit. Hollywood Pipeline also added that the police force he appears to be in charge of is based in the “alternate universe city of Tulsa.”

These leaked set photos seem to confirm the report from That Hashtag Show that revealed the show would be following a number of police officers in Oklahoma. That report broke down a number of the potential character for the upcoming show.

They included:

Angela Abraham is an African-American female cop. She is described as independent and intelligent as well as a realist. She’s married to Cal Abraham and the two have a daughter. She is extremely protective of her family

Cal Abraham is an African-American stay-at-home Dad. While things on the surface appear normal and calm, his past hints at a very different story.

Looking Glass is a native Oklahoman and police officer, But he’s no ordinary officer. He’s a top interrogator and behavioral scientist. He might also be a sociopath.

Panda is an desk police officer. He’s tough, but also cynical. He always puts the job first. He keep people at bay with his humor.

Red Scare is a also a police officer, but he’s described as a mafioso type and wears a track suit. He has a Russian accent and can be abrasiveness.

Pirate Jenny is described as an androgynous and lustful bisexual police officer. She’s also an anarchist at heart.

Jane Crawford is the wife of the police chief Judd. She’s a veterinarian and much sharper than her personality lets on.

Old Man is a former police, but still an imposing figure despite his age.

HBO recently released the cast list for the show which included Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, and Regina King. The cast list followed an impassioned open letter from showrunner Damon Lindelof who described the upcoming show as the New Testament to Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ Old Testament of the Watchmen comics. He confirmed that Watchmen is canon that “The Comedian died. Dan and Laurie fell in love. Ozymandias saved the world and Dr. Manhattan left it just after blowing Rorschach to pieces in the bitter cold of Antarctica.”

Maybe the biggest nugget from his letter is that the show won’t technically be a sequel. Lindelof declared he wants to make something “original.” He added, “This new story must be original. It has to vibrate with seismic unpredictability of its own tectonic plates. It must ask new questions and explore the world through a fresh lens. Most importantly, it must be contemporary.”

Given these new set leaks, the leaked character descriptions, and Lindelof’s own worlds it’s highly possible that the show might be taking place concurrently to Moore and Gibbons’ Watchmen, but set in a different city. It allows Lindelof to be original, but he can also reference and bring in the classic characters as well. It would allow him to have his cake and eat it so to speak.

Are you looking forward to the new Watchmen TV series?
