Over the last few months, DC’s Birds of Prey movie has made some interesting headlines. From Margot Robbie teasing fans with a new Harley Quinn Costume to the movie having an all female crew. Fans have been eagerly awaiting information as it slowly has come out.

Now it looks like we have what seems to be a synopsis of the film. The movie is rumored to star Harley Quinn, Black Canary, Huntress, and Renee Montoya. The Birds of Prey team is expected to find and save a young Cassandra Cain from a crime lord.

Here’s the rumored synopsis from Discussing Film:

“After [splitting] up with The Joker, Harley Quinn and three other female superheroes – Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya – come together to save the life of a little girl (Cassandra Cain) from an evil crime lord.”

If this is indeed the synopsis of the movie. We have to ask ourselves, then who is this crime lord they are trying to save her from?

At one point the Penguin was considered to be the villain.  However, at this point it’s unclear who this crime lord will be. Gotham has quite a few crime lords to choose from so there’s no shortage of possibilities. We could potentially see Carmine Falcone, Black Mask, Sal Maroni, Two-Face, Doctor Hurt, Bane, or even Catwoman.

If this synopsis is to be believed it looks like Jared Leto’s Joker will not be part of the film. However, a cameo via a flashback could still be possible. If you remember, Joker saves Harley Quinn at the end of Suicide Squad.

Another point of emphasis is that Cassandra Cain will appear in the film. Cain has been Batgirl in the past, but is currently going by Orphan in the comics.

Barbara Gordon as Batgirl had been highly rumored to be involved in the film, but it’s possible they are saving the character for her solo debut in the upcoming Batgirl solo film which is being written by Bumblebee scribe Christina Hodson.

Birds of Prey will star Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Cathy Yan will be directing the film. Filming is rumored to begin sometime in early 2019 in Los Angeles and Atlanta. No other casting decisions have been announced yet.
