IDW Reveals Special Edition of ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’
IDW is offering a special “Great White Whale” Edition for Troy Little’s graphic novel adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Thompson was hired by a sports magazine in 1971 to cover the Mint 400, an off-road race through the desert outside of Las Vegas. However, the magazine rejected his draft after he submitted ten times longer than the requested length. He refashioned the piece into Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas which ran as a serialized piece across multiple issues of Rolling Stone.
Thompson’s work has recently been adapted to graphic novel form by Canadian artist Troy Little and his adaptation will be getting the “Great White Whale” treatment. This serialized edition presents the acclaimed graphic novel as a comic book mini-series, featuring Little’s original never-before-seen black and white artwork, and stuffed with new bonus features.
The first 48-page issue will be available with multiple covers, featuring brand-new designs by Troy Little and Jim Mahfood. There will also be a blank sketch cover. The first issue hits comic book shelves in May.
If you are looking to get an even more in-depth experience Troy Little will be in Vegas to re-trace Thompson’s original steps as he will be meeting fans and signing books as a Guest of Honor at the Mint 400 between March 10 and 12. He even drew the official poster for the event!
