Speculation has been going about as fans have wondered who would bring the mutant, Dazzler, to life in Fox’s upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix film. Answers seemed to have come to light today because of a mistaken post.
In the now deleted photo caught by Omega Underground, a stuntman posted some headshots of cast members. In the background of the headshots, actress Halston Sage can be seen.
To add to this, Sage herself has been seen recently at a Hans Zimmer concert with Dark Phoenix cast members in Montreal Canada.
Introduced in the 1980’s The Uncanny X-Men #130, Dazzler has had a long history in comics. Also known as Alison Blaire, Dazzler was an aspiring singer looking to make it in the music industry. However, due to her status as a mutant, those ambitions have been hindered at times. Those mutant powers allow her to make use of sound vibrations. She can manipulate those vibrations and turn them into light and energy beams. Something that she uses as a singer to entertain fans as a performer.
For her part, Halston Sage is known for her roles in How to Rock, Crisis, and Paper Towns. Subsequently, she was also in Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse. In that role she worked alongside Tye Sheridan, currently Cyclops in the X-Men franchise. Sage is also cast in another Fox project, The Orville, starring Seth MacFarlane. She will play Alara Kitan in the space comedy from the Family Guy funny man.
Fox has made no official announcement as of yet.. As production starts to get going and 2018 draws closer, we can expect to hear more casting news about X-Men: Dark Phoenix. If one thing is to be learned from all of this, it’s the importance of cautious social media posting.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set to open on November 2, 2018. The film stars James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, and Michael Fassbender as Magneto.
