At San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment announced three brand new animated movies for 2019. They include Batman: Hush, Justice League vs. Fatal Five, and Wonder Woman: Bloodlines. The three movies join Reign of Superman which had been previously announced.
The announcements were made after DC premiered their animated adaptation of The Death of Superman.
Batman: Hush has been one of the most in-demand storylines fans wanted to see get the animated adaptation treatment. It was originally a 12-issue series that began with Batman #609 back in January of 2003. It was eventually collected into graphic novel form. The story introduced the character named as Hush who was actually a childhood friend of Bruce Wayne named Thomas “Tommy” Elliot.
Elliot would kill his father and severely injure his mother by cutting their car’s brake line. His mother was only saved due to the intervention of Dr. Thomas Wayne. She would eventually disown him, leading him to suffocating her with a pillow. Her death would allow him to inherit the family fortune. He would go on to become a surgeon, but held an irrational grudge against Bruce Wayne. He would eventually discover Batman’s identity and create an elaborate plot in order to destroy him.
Along with Batman: Hush, DC announced Justice League vs. The Fatal Five.
The Fatal Five are an extremely old team that were introduced by Jim Shooter back in 1967 in Adventure Comics #352. They were originally adversaries of the Legion of Superheroes. They have appeared in Justice League Unlimited and the Legion of Superheroes animated series.
The Fatal Five’s original members were Tharok, the Emerald Empress, Validus, Mano, and The Persuader.
Tharok is super-genius because of his cybernetic implants. The Emerald Empress wields the power of the Emerald Eye of Ekron. Validus is the child of Lightning Lad and Saturn Girl who was transformed into a monstrous being and sent back in time after being captured Darkseid. The Emerald Empress uses her mind-controlling abilities to control Validus. Mano is one of the most wanted murders and has an anti-matter ability. Finally, The Persuader wields an atomic ax that can cut through anything.
Reign of Supermen will be the sequel to The Death of Superman which premiered at San Diego Comic-Con.
Wonder Woman: Bloodlines was also announced, but very few details were released.
