Batman star Ben Affleck has reportedly been checked into rehab, after his wife Jennifer Garner staged an intervention for her estranged husband after he relapsed.
On Wednesday the details of this came out first via TMZ, as cameras caught the star being checked into a substance abuse treatment facility. According to sources Garner went to visit Affleck at his Pacific Palisades home to sit with him. What was said is unknown. But it seemed to spark the intervention that has the star now in rehab.
The report further states that after leaving the home shaken, she returned with another person. After a bit or more time all three went into a car and took the Batman star to the treatment center. Affleck was apparently seen receiving delivery of alcohol to his home in the days’ prior.
The Oscar award-winning actor, director, and writer have had a long history of alcohol abuse which has haunted him over the last few decades. Even though he has been able to work steadily, his substance abuse has taken a toll on his personal life, as can be seen from his estranged relationship with his wife. The two announced their separation in 2015, with formal paperwork filed April 2017.
The report also states that he will be receiving said treatment for an extended period of time, which could put future Batman-related projects at risk.
With the DCEU now moving forward, doubt over Ben Affleck’s future as the Dark Knight hangs in the air. Can the actor continue as the cape crusader? Or will he have to bow out of the franchise in order to receive proper treatment?
Foxnews reached out to Ben Allecks representative for comment, and as of this story, there has been no update.
