Former Catwoman Actress Anne Hathaway Decries “My Country Gassed Children”
Former Catwoman actress Anne Hathaway, who played the character in the Dark Knight Rises, took to Instagram on Tuesday to decry the United States of America and insinuate the actions taken by Customs and Border Patrol and President Trump at the border are akin to Nazi Germany.
The actress posted on her social media account stating, “My country gassed children. There are no words for my horror.”
Hathaway would go on to dismiss anyone who would dare criticize her saying, “The only human response to this monstrous use of force against LEGAL asylum seekers – against children- is condemnation, shame, and rage.”
She would then go on to question voters who support President Donald Trump asking, “For those that still believe in voting for the man who recommended using lethal force on families fleeing violence and persecution: this is the policy you like?”
Hathaway’s response comes after a photo went viral showing what appears to be two mothers clutching on to their kids as they look to flee from a tear gas grenade. The photo comes in the aftermath of around 500 migrants who attempted to rush the U.S.-Mexico border near San Ysidro between San Diego and Tijuana. Customs and Border Patrol officers shut the port down and fired tear gas at migrants who were storming the border.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen described the situation in a statement:
“This morning, CBP was forced to close the San Ysidro Port of Entry to ensure public safety in response to large numbers of migrants seeking to enter the U.S. illegally. After being prevented from entering the Port of Entry, some of these migrants attempted to breach legacy fence infrastructure along the border and sought to harm CBP personnel by throwing projectiles at them. As I have continually stated, DHS will not tolerate this type of lawlessness and will not hesitate to shut down ports of entry for security and public safety reasons. We will also seek to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law anyone who destroys federal property, endangers our frontline operators, or violates our nation’s sovereignty. CBP, along with other DHS law enforcement, federal law enforcement, the U.S. military and state and local law enforcement, will continue to have a robust presence along the Southwest Border and at our ports of entry to prevent illegal entry or violence. We continue to stay in close contact with Mexican authorities and we remain committed to resolving this situation in concert with our Mexican partners.”

Anne Hathaway is no stranger to making her political inclinations known on Instagram. Earlier this year she claimed that black Americans feared for their lives daily.
What do you think? Does she have a valid point? Or do you think Hathaway is being extremely reckless with her rhetoric in trying to stoke fear by comparing the closing of the U.S.-Mexico border to Nazi Germany? Let me know in the comments below!
