Batman’s Long-Awaited Arrival on Gotham is Unveiled in New Footage
It became apparent some time ago, now that Bruce (David Mazouz) is old enough, the young Wayne would suit up and don the cowl of the Batman for the first time on Gotham at the end of its run. Well, the footage is shot and finally going public.
ComicBook.Com is reporting Fox “showed off a sizzle reel from the rest of Gotham’s final season at the network’s panel from this year’s winter press tour for the Television Critics Association. Part of the reel was a teaser look at Batman, not expected to show up until the last few episodes (probably the finale).
TV journalist Damian Holbrook tweeted approvingly and concisely about the occasion.
i just saw BATMAN in the #GOTHAM sizzle reel!!! #tca19 #newFox

Obviously, the 5′ 8″ 17-year old David Mazouz, who has played an adolescent Bruce Wayne for five seasons, won’t be wearing the costume. A taller stand-in will handle the job. But they are finding a way around that according to showrunner and executive producer John Stephens. Mazouz won’t be in the costume but his likeness and voice will be used to pull off the full effect. The lad must be able to go deep vocally.
A Twitter thread by attendee Chris E. Hayner, an associate editor for Gamespot, explains.
Is it David in the suit in the series finale? “Yes and no.” They said he’s done some stuff in the suit. The face under the cowl is him and we’ll hear his Batman growl. But the Batman is built on someone over 6 feet tall. #TCA19

Hayner and others tweeted, in addition, their excitement in relation to the first look at Oswald Cobblepot and Edward Nygma adopting their villain personas officially.
We just saw the first footage of Batman in the series finale, along with full on Penguin and Riddler Oswald and Ed. #TCA19

As for The Joker, Cameron Monaghan has played Jerome and Jeremiah, Joker-esque maniacs that each serve as an avatar for the Clown Prince of Crime in the world of Gotham. It isn’t clear yet if he will go full Joker, as once claimed, but Hayner wrote Stephens said Monaghan’s character will evolve more.
Cameron Monaghan still can’t say whether he’ll be The Joker but John Stephens says there’s one more evolution of the character we haven’t seen yet. #TCA19

Unfortuantely, Fox hasn’t released the footage to the public yet, but they did tease Bane’s transformation in their latest trailer for Season 5’s Episode 6: I’m Here to Clean House.
