Report: Star Wars Could Develop Rose Tico Series and Four Others

A new report indicates Lucasfilm and Disney are looking to develop a Rose Tico series that could debut on Disney’s upcoming streaming service Disney+.

HN Entertainment reports Lucasfilm and Disney have a list of five television shows that could be developed into streaming services. That list includes series focused on Rose Tico, Captain Phasma, a young Princess Leia, The Knights of Ren, and the Sith Lord Darth Bane.

The report does state that these shows are not “about to go into production these are just ideas they’re considering internally at Lucasfilm/Disney.”

A report from last June indicated that Star Wars and Lucasfilm were scrapping a number of their planned spin-off films that included the rumored Stephen Daldry Obi-Wan Kenobi movie and the rumored James Mangold Boba Fett movie.

Lucasfilm would address that report in a statement through the Disney owned ABC:

Instead, Lucasfilm told ABC News there are still “multiple” Star Wars films currently in development that have not been officially announced. Those projects are moving forward separate from an already-announced “Star Wars” trilogy being overseen by “The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson and another series of movies from “Game of Thrones” producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.”

No word emerged on these “multiple” Star Wars films, but Disney would announce Disney+ streaming projects. The first was Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian with the second being a live-action series starring Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor.

It’s definitely more than likely that Disney and Lucasfilm are looking to develop more Star Wars properties and given they are already spinning off Cassian Andor it would make sense for them to spin-off other characters from the new films. In fact, they already have some source material for Captain Phasma as Marvel Comics published an entire miniseries on the character.

Word of a young Princess Leia series or movie isn’t all that new. Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown stoked the rumor mill when she appeared at Emerald City Comic Con and revealed her favorite heroin is Princess Leia.

She would even appear at the 2018 SAG Awards with a hairdo reminiscent of Princess Leia’s.

On top of that she would reveal that she went as Princess Leia for Halloween last year on her Instagram.
