Report: Warner Bros. and DC To Develop Hawkman Movie – Want Muslim Actor
A new report indicates Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are working on developing a Hawkman movie and they are specifically seeking a Muslim actor for the lead role.
The report comes from We Got This Covered, where they indicate they are looking for “a Muslim actor between the age of 30-39, for the lead role.” Their report also indicates that Hawkgirl will feature in the film.
This new report comes after the rumor that Hawkman would be featured as the main antagonist in the much-talked about Black Adam film starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. That film is also expected to feature Atom Smasher and Star Girl and be influenced by Geoff Johns’ [easyazon_link identifier=”1401204805″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Black Reign[/easyazon_link] story from the 2000s.
The details are pretty sparse on what the film could be about. However, they do mention a description from a past rumor about a Hawkman movie:
“Part INDIANA JONES/DA VINCI CODE, part GHOST tentpole about the fictional superhero that appears in D.C. Comic books. He used archaic weaponry and large, artificial wings attached to a harness made of the Nth metal that allows flight. Most incarnations of Hawkman work closely with a partner/romantic interest named Hawkgirl or Hawkwoman in his fight against supervillains. Based on the DC comic”
If the movie was looking for modern inspiration, they should look no further than Robert Venditti’s current run on Hawkman which sees Carter Hall attempting to rediscover his past and his true purpose. It definitely has an Indiana Jones and Da Vinci Code vibe as he journeys into lost and hidden temples attempting to find and decipher clues.
And if the film decides to adapt the idea that Carter Hall is the reincarnation of the Egyptian prince Khufu it would definitely provide a unique background and setting with ancient Egyptian pyramids. Given the time frame, I could even see some Wonder Woman crossover with the Amazons potentially making cameos in the film similar to their role in Justice League.
