Shazam! Electrifies in Fandango Early Screenings – Hauls in Over $3.3 Million
Director David F. Sandberg, Warner Bros., and DC Entertainment’s Shazam! film starring Zachary Levi and Asher Angel electrified box offices with its Fandango early screening on Saturday March 23rd.
Deadline reports the film brought in $3.3 million which did better than DreamWorks’ Fandango early screening of How to Train Your Dragon 3, which brought in $2.6 million, Aquaman which made $2.9 million, [easyazon_link identifier=”B07816NJV9″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle[/easyazon_link] which brought in $1.8 million and Hotel Transylvania 3 which brought in $1.3 million.
If Deadline’s reporting of the numbers are accurate, the one day haul for Shazam! placed it at the 7th highest grossing film for the weekend. Not only did Deadline indicate Shazam! brought in over $3.3 million, but they also note that movie was successful “throughout the entire North American footprint in large, medium and small markets and theaters.” It wasn’t isolated to just certain areas.
Not only did Shazam! have a very good haul for the Fandango early showing, but it’s getting critical praise as well. The film currently sits at 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and 76 on Metacritic.
The movie has also generated quite a lot of positive buzz on social media with many praising the film.
#Shazam is another gigantic win for DC following #Aquaman and #WonderWoman and is just so different from both of them. I love it.

#Shazam is such a brilliant movie. It’s so tremendously fun, and incredibly scary at some points (thanks, David F. Sandberg!). It blows away every expectation and is my new favorite DC movie. pic.twitter.com/DlpymCukTP

#Shazam is a laugh-out-loud funny romp that captures the innocence and challenge of being both a superhero and a kid at once. It’s clever, fun and heroic with an obvious nod to 80s classics like Big, Ghostbusters, The Goonies etc. @joblocom @ShazamMovie

loved #Shazam. It’s super fun, very funny (a few times people were laughing so loud I missed dialogue), and exactly what they set out to make: ‘Big’ meets Superman. @ZacharyLevi is perfectly cast but the real surprise is @Jgrazerofficial as Freddy Freeman. Steals the show. pic.twitter.com/ssvs8Dwc2P

I personally loved the movie as well after seeing it on Saturday. It’s the best DCEU movie to date. You can read my full review here.
