Chris Rock Roasts Jussie Smollett at NAACP Image Awards: “You Ain’t Getting No Respect From Me”
Comedian and actor Chris Rock roasted Jussie Smollett at the 50th annual NAACP Image Awards on Saturday night.
Rock took shots at Smollett despite indicating the NAACP Image Awards had told him no Smollett jokes.
Rock had the audience laughing when he said, “I guess I got to present an award, they said no Jussie Smollett jokes.” He continued, “I know, I know. What a waste of light skin. You know what I could do with that light skin. That curly hair? My career would be out of here. I would be f****** running Hollywood.”
After a pause Rock would add, “What the hell was he thinking? From now on, you are “Jesse” from now on. You don’t even get the “U” no more. That “U” is respect. You ain’t getting no respect from me.”

Earlier this week, Smollett had all charges against him dropped by the State of Illinois. He had previously been charged with 16 counts by a Cook County grand jury.
Chicago police and Mayor Rahm Emmanuel were not happy that the State’s Attorney dropped all charges against Smollett. Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson stated:
“Do I think justice was served? No. What do I think justice is? I think this city is still owed an apology.”
Mayor Rahm Emmanuel would clearly state, “This is a whitewash of justice. A grand jury could not have been clearer.”
While Smollett read a prepared statement indicating he wants to get his life back after the charges were dropped, his lawyer Tina Glandian appeared on Good Morning America and indicated they might file a lawsuit against the Chicago police department.
What do you make of Chris Rock’s roast of Jussie Smollett? Did you find it funny?
