Pattinson has been rumored to be Batman since February. And if he is eventually cast in the role, it’s quite possible he will be providing a unique take on the Dark Knight that we haven’t seen in films recently.
Director Matt Reeves recently discussed his Batman film indicating it will be “a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale.”
Reeves elaborated:
“It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been. I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”
He also indicated at the end of January that the casting process was going to begin shortly. So, while we don’t have a confirmation on whether or not Pattinson is confirmed as Batman, it’s more than likely we will get one sooner rather than later.
“The casting process will begin shortly. We’re starting to put together our battle plan.”
That battle plan is rumored to include Batman villains the Penguin and Catwoman as well as possibly half-a-dozen more.
Reeves indicated that he and Warner Bros. are looking to have the film release to theaters in late spring or summer of 2021.
“We haven’t been dated. I wouldn’t commit to this, but we’re thinking the movie would probably be for 2021, late spring or summer.”
Current rumors indicate the film will be release on June 25, 2021.
What do you make of Pattinson’s Batman voice? Do you think he could pull it off? Are you warming up to the idea of Pattinson as Batman? Or do you think Warner Bros. should go another direction?
