Rumor: General Thunderbolt Ross and Red Hulk to Appear in She-Hulk Disney+ Series
A new rumor suggests General Thunderbolt Ross and the Red Hulk will appear in the newly announced She-Hulk Disney+ series.
The rumors comes from We Got This Covered. They report their source informed them “that Red Hulk will be making an appearance at some point during the show.” They also note that the Red Hulk will be “General Ross growing to monstrous proportions as he did in the comics.” They also expect William Hurt to reprise his role as Thunderbolt Ross.
General Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe all the way back in The Incredible Hulk portrayed by William Hurt. Hurt would reprise his role in Captain America, Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. In Captain America: Civil War, he became the Secretary of State of the United States, where he approved the Sokovia Accords. He would go on to instruct Iron Man to hunt down Captain America, and had his accomplices arrested and thrown into the prison known as the Raft.
In The Incredible Hulk film, Ross had restarted the Super Soldier program that created Captain America. In order to combat Bruce Banner and The Hulk, Ross recruited Emil Blonsky and injected him with an experimental version of the Super Soldier Serum. The serum would work giving Blonsky enhanced strength, speed, and agility. However, it was still no match for The Hulk, who crushed his human body. However, the serum also gave him enhanced rejuvenation and he was quickly back in the field. In order to combat the Hulk, Blonksy would receive more Super Soldier Serum and then subject himself to radiation treatment which transformed him into Abomination.
It’s unclear how Thunderbolt Ross will turn into the Red Hulk. In the comics, he makes an alliance with M.O.D.O.K. and The Leader. They use their resources to hijack Tony Stark’s satellites and siphon the energy coming off of The Hulk. That energy is then used at Gamma Base in combination with Banner’s DNA to transform Ross into the Red Hulk.
This most likely won’t happen in the show. Given, we’ve yet to see the Leader or M.O.D.O.K. It’s possible we could see Ross use more experimental drugs from his revived Super Soldier Project. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s combined with alien technology recovered from the multiple battles Earth has had with Thanos’ forces. That tech could be used to create a new serum combined with radiation that allows Ross to transform into the Red Hulk.
