New Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Trailer Could Debut During Monday Night Football Game: Detroit Lions vs Green Bay Packers
New speculation suggests the next trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will debut during Monday Night Football as the Detroit Lions take on the Green Bay Packers. The Lions and Packers face off on October 14th.
The rumor comes from the Bespin Bulletin on Instagram.
They note that Disney and Lucasfilm will continue their pattern of releasing trailers for their sequel trilogy on Monday Night Football.
The Bespin Bulletin speculates:
“Lucasfilm and Disney will follow past Star Wars movies such as The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi and debut the official trailer on Monday Night Football. The Force Awakens trailer released October 19, 2015 and The Last Jedi trailer released on October 9th, 2017. I suspect The Rise of Skywalker trailer will release on October 14th, 2019.”
We can confirm that The Force Awakens trailer debuted on October 19, 2015. The trailer dropped during the Monday Night Football game featuring the Eagles and Giants.
In a similar fashion The Last Jedi dropped on October 9, 2017. That Monday Night Football game saw the Minnesota Vikings defeat the Chicago Bears.
The Bespin Bulletin adds:
“Mid-October attached to Monday Night Football has been the Disney staple with Star Wars trailers and I don’t see why that’d stop now.”
Along with this speculation, technical information for the next trailer was revealed by the British Board of Film Classification. They note the trailer will be 2 minutes and 16 seconds long and they gave it a 12A rating.
Here’s how they define their 12A rating:
Films classified 12A and video works classified 12 contain material that is not generally suitable for children aged under 12.
The previous trailers for the film were rated PG.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will hit theaters on December 20th. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domnhall Gleeson, Keri Russell, and John Boyega.
