Zoe Quinn to Write DC Comics’ Batman and Superman Spin-Off The Infected: Deathbringer
DC Comics announced that Zoe Quinn will team up with artist Tyler Kirkham to write a Batman and Superman spin-off titled The Infected: Deathbringer #1.
The Infected: Deathbringer #1
Quinn’s story will focus on Donna Troy as she becomes infected by The Batman Who Laughs toxin and turns her into the worst version of herself. DC Comics describes the story: (Related: Marvel Comics Writer Zoe Quinn’s Allegations Against Alec Holowka Called Into Question by New Evidence of Inconsistencies in Initial Claims)
“A story of a hero who is done with bringing peace to a world that cannot be trusted with it; a woman whose newly awakened dark side is ready to burn it all down and forge a new destiny.”
The Infected: The Commissioner #1
Along with Quinn and Kirkham’s The Infected: Deathbringer #1, DC Comics also announced that Paul Jenkins and artist Jack Herbert will team-up for a one-shot featuring Jim Gordon titled The Infected: The Commissioner #1. Gordon will also be corrupted by The Batman Who Laughs’ toxin.
DC Comics describes this issue:
“About a hero whose sense of duty and honor is stripped away; a man who has finally given in to his worst impulses—and he might just take the entire city into the darkness with him…”
Both issues will feature covers by Viktor Bogdanovic. Quinn and Kirkham’s The Infected: Deathbringer #1 debuts on December 4th while Jenkins and Herbert’s The Infected: The Commissioner #1 hits shelves on December 18th.
These two books join four other The Infected one-shots featuring Shazam, Supergirl, Hawkman, and Blue Beetle. These six characters will become The Batman Who Laughs’ lieutenants as they take on “Apex” Lex Luthor in the upcoming Hell Arisen miniseries from James Tynion IV and Steve Epting. That book will debut on December 18th. (Related: DC Comics Announces The Infected One Shots Featuring Shazam, Blue Beetle, Hawkman, and Supergirl)
Batman and Superman will face-off against the corrupted Shazam in Batman/Superman #2 by Joshua Williamson and David Marquez that hits shelves on September 25th.
