Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi recently revealed who will be the lead character in his upcoming film.

Waititi spoke with MTV News where he told them, “It’s Chris. It’s a Thor film. He is Thor. It’s a Thor film. She’s in it.”

Waititi also provided an update on the script, but as you can tell from the video above, it’s unclear if he’s being serious or just completely messing around. Waititi did say he was only on “page seven” of the script.

When asked if Sam Rockwell’s Justin Hammer could appear in the film, Waititi responded, “Everything and anything is possible in Marvel.”

Waititi had previously trolled a number of fans who indicated their disappointment with Waititi returning to direct Thor: Love and Thunder after Thor: Ragnarok. A number of them had also expressed their displeasure with introducing Jane Foster as Thor in the film. Thor: Love and Thunder

Thor: Love and Thunder was announced at San Diego Comic Con 2019 back in July. The film will see Natalie Portman reprising her role as Jane Foster, but she will also become Thor and wield Mjolnir in the film. Portman took the stage at Hall H and picked up Mjolnir saying, “I’ve always had a little hammer envy.” (Related: Natalie Portman To Reprise Her Role as Jane Foster/Thor—Goddess of Thunder!?!)

Not only will the film see Portman reprise her role and become Thor, but Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie will come out as an LGBTQ character and become King of Asgard. Kevin Feige confirmed this change from the comic book canon saying, “First of all, as king, as new king [of Asgard], she needs to find her queen. So that will be the first order of business. She has some ideas. I’ll keep you posted.” (Related: Valkyrie Featured as Marvel’s First LGBTQ Main Character in Thor: Love and Thunder)

Other details about the film have been sparse. However, a rumor surfaced that Tom Hiddleston’s Loki could also star in the film. Hiddleston and Loki have starred in all three Thor films. The rumor indicates Loki will be essential to the plot of the film. He is expected to bring Mjolnir back to the prime universe after it had been returned to its previous universe and timeline by Captain America following the events of Avengers: Endgame. The rumors notes this major plot point will be explored in the upcoming Loki television show for Disney+.
