Carol Danvers was original created by Roy Thomas and Gene Colan. She first appeared in Marvel Super-heroes #13 back in 1968. In her first appearance she was an officer in the United States Air Force and a colleague of Kree superhero Mar-Vell’s alter-ego.

In 1977, Carol Danvers would become Ms. Marvel in Ms. Marvel #1 after Mar-Vell shielded Carol from an explosion. Mar-Vell’s DNA would fuse with Carol granting her a number of superpowers.

Danvers would go on to become Captain Marvel, but not before she also took on the monikers Binary and Warbird.

The character recently appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe portrayed by actress Brie Larson in Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame.
