HBO Max released the first teaser trailer for their upcoming Game of Thrones spin-off, House of the Dragon.

Take a look.

The series is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood novel series and takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and follows individuals from House Targaryen.

Martin confirmed the show back in October 2019 and recommended people read the anthology series Dangerous Women and Rogues as well as Fire & Blood “if you’d like to know a bit more of what the show will be about.”

Not only did HBO Max release this teaser trailer, but they also made four new casting announcements.

They revealed that Wil Johnson will play Ser Vaemond Velaryon. Vaemond Valeryon is “the younger brother to Coryls Velaryon and commander in the Velaryon navy.”

John Macmillan plays Ser Laenor Velaryon he’s the “son of Corlys Velaryon and Rhaenys Targaryen.”

Savannah Steyn is Lady Laena Valeyron. She is the “daughter Corlys Velaryon and Rhaenys Targaryen.”

Finally, Theo Nate is Ser Laenor Velaryon. He is the “son of Corlys Velaryon and Rhaenys Targaryen.”

HBO Max had previously revealed that Emma D’Arcy plays Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. Her official character description states, “The king’s first-born child, she is of pure Valyrian blood, and she is a dragonrider.  Many would say that Rhaenyra was born with everything… but she was not born a man.”

They had also announced that Matt Smith would play Prince Daemon Targaryen. His official description reads, “The younger brother to King Viserys and heir to the throne. A peerless warrior and a dragonrider, Daemon possesses the true blood of the dragon.  But it is said that whenever a Targaryen is born, the gods toss a coin in the air…”

Steve Toussaint is Lord Corlys Velaryon also known as The Sea Snake. His description says, “Lord of House Velaryon, a Valyrian bloodline as old as House Targaryen.  As “The Sea Snake,” the most famed nautical adventurer in the history of Westeros, Lord Corlys built his house into a powerful seat that is even richer than the Lannisters and that claims the largest navy in the world.”

Olivia Cooke plays Alicent Hightower. Her description says, “The daughter of Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King, and the most comely woman in the Seven Kingdoms. She was raised in the Red Keep, close to the king and his innermost circle; she possesses both a courtly grace and a keen political acumen.”

Finally, they had previously announced Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower. His description reads, “The Hand of the King, Ser Otto loyally and faithfully serves both his king and his realm. As the Hand sees it, the greatest threat to the realm is the king’s brother, Daemon, and his position as heir to the throne.”

The series is executive produced and co-created by George R.R. Martin. Ryan Condal is also a co-creator and executive producer. He also serves as co-showrunner as well.

Miguel Sapochnik is also the co-showrunner. He’s also the director of the pilot as well as a number of other episodes and an executive producer.

Other executive producers include Vince Gerardis and Ron Schmid. Sara Hess is also an executive producer as well as a writer.

Clare Kilner and Geeta V. Patel join Sapchnik as directors. Greg Yaitanes is also a director as well as a co-executive producer.
