Spinning out of her debut appearance in July’s Isom Vol. 1 #1, the upcoming Yaira Vol. 1 #1 will follow the eponymous heroine as, in defiance of Alphacore leader Bryan Solari’s order that she take her rebellious attitude and remove herself from the city in service of its citizens’ safety, she makes her way back to Florespark in search of answers regarding a returning threat from her past.

“Who or what is Yaira?” reads the series’ official logline. “For the citizens of Florespark and the Alphacore who protect them from Except-related threats, Yaira is a power and a force of nature unlike anything else they’ve seen to date. After a battle fought to a standstill, Bryan Solari of the Alphacore told Yaira to leave Florespark and never return. But Yaira doesn’t play by anyone’s rules – she makes her own, and now she’s back.”

“But what does this wintry force want in Florespark, and why has she chosen to return now?” it continues. “Yaira’s history goes back further, and her origins reach farther than anyone realizes. And sometimes, a deeper past means more to come back and haunt you. When you wield such immeasurable power, your choices can have far-reaching consequences. What happens when Yaira’s past catches up with her, and others are affected and forced to pay the price for her actions?”

In terms of visuals, Yaira #1 will feature art from Marvel Comics’ Spider-Man & Araña Special: The Hunter Revealed Vol. 1 #1 colorist and Dynamite Comics’ Warlord of Mars: Dejah Thoris Vol. 1 #23-27 penciler Débora Caritá and lettering work from the Rippaverse’s resident Eric Weathers.

As for its story, the book will be helmed by none other than indie creative duo of Jen and Sylvia Soska, otherwise known as the Soska Sisters, perhaps best known for their work on such indie horror films as 2012’s American Mary and 2019’s Rabid as well as penning the five-issue Black Widow Vol. 7 for Marvel Comics.
