M.A.S.K. Is Coming to IDW this Fall

IDW Publishing is adding another Hasbro property, M.A.S.K., to their ever growing list including Rom and Micronauts.

Writer Brandon Easton (Marvel’s Agent Carter, Transformers: Deviations) will team up with artist Tony Vargas (Rot & Ruin, TMNT: Shadows of the Past Board Game) to bring M.A.S.K. to comic book shelves later this year.

“We are so proud to be able to continue growing the impressive relationship between IDW Publishing and Hasbro with this new M.A.S.K. comic series,” said IDW Managing Editor David Hedgecock. “We can’t wait to bring the high-octane, unique, brand of storytelling to this book that we know fans of M.A.S.K. will expect!”

IDW promises to be mindful and respectful of the source material while also bringing the beloved property into the new century. They hope to preserve the old school qualities fans loved growing up, while also consciously infusing it with slightly more modern sensibilities. Their goal is to craft a sophisticated story with cutting edge designs that’s not afraid to look in the rearview mirror to pay tribute to its origins. The editorial and creative team hopes to focus attention on the multi-cultural heritage of the show, presenting a contemporary M.A.S.K. to fans in a unique, yet familiar, way.

“We’ve had tremendous success with IDW over the years in re-launching classic brands for a contemporary audience, while still paying appropriate homage to their origins,” said Michael Kelly, Head of Global Publishing at Hasbro. “We are thrilled to welcome a new team to this library of heroes, as M.A.S.K. joins the ranks of JEM & THE HOLOGRAMS, MICRONAUTS, and THE TRANSFORMERS.”

M.A.S.K. launches this November as an ongoing series with cover art from Tommy Lee Edwards.
