Mark Millar and Image Comics Reveal First Look at New Netflix Series Prodigy

Mark Millar and Image Comics revealed their first look at their brand new Netflix series, Prodigy. Millar will be writing the series with Rafael Albuquerque providing artwork.

Prodigy will introduce readers to Edison Crane, the smartest man in the world. He also happens to be the most successful businessman in the world, but these achievements are not enough. He’s constantly looking for new challenges and he’s achieved many of them. He’s a Nobel Prize-winning scientiest, a genius composer, an Olympic athlete, an expert in the occult, and he’s a known problem-fixer getting calls from a number of governments to help them with their problems.

Mark Millar is super hyped about this book. While revealing a first look at the preview pages to Deadline, Millar exclaimed, “This is the best thing I’ve ever done and this, I think, is the character I’ll be associated with in the future.”

He claims Edison Crane is a character that bests all of his previous work:

“I’ve created a lot of characters and stories that have a life in other media from Eggsy in Kingsman to Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl to the various Marvel stories we’ve seen in their cinematic universe. The entire Millarworld library Netflix acquired when they bought our company last year has a crazy number of franchises, but I wanted to do one that genuinely topped them all. Stan [Lee] created the Marvel Universe, but he’s best-remembered for Spider-Man. Ian Fleming created Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, but he’ll always be known for Bond. So I wanted to create the character that outshines everything else I’ve ever done and that’s Edison Crane.”

Millar would take to Twitter to make an even bigger boast stating who ever gets to play the part of Edison Crane in Prodigy will be “the biggest star of the next decade.”

The first issue of the series will feature eight different variant covers most of them down by Albequerque. However, there will be a blank cover as well as a Frank Quitely version. Three of the covers will also combine to form a triptych cover featuring a number of Millar’s other comic book series. There will also be a “We Believe in Comics” variant by Albequerque.
