Mark Millar Reveals First Trailer for Netflix’s New Series The Magic Order
If you’ve been out of the loop, Netflix purchased Mark Millar’s Millarworld in their first ever acquisition. Millarworld has been a creative powerhouse on both the comics front as well as in film. Millar’s works include Wanted, Kick-Ass, and Kingsman.
And he’s adding another to the list, The Magic Order. Netflix released a trailer for their first ever comic book series.

The trailer showcases a world of science and logic that is protected by The Magic Order, a group of wizards. However, the trailer asks, who protects these wizards.
There’s a number of fantastical moments throughout the trailer. I especially enjoyed the part where the magician has the old lady fire the bullet at him and he catches between his teeth.
The character designs for the The Magic Order also look very intriguing. It has a turn of the century feel, with characters sporting a top hat and another sporting a bowler hat. Overcoats also seem to be in fashion for The Magic Order. However, there are also some modern stylings with one character wearing what looks to be a hooded sweatshirt.
The trailer definitely has my interest as it looks to feature some high drama with a fantastical world. I can’t wait to see what Mark Millar and artist Olivier Coipel have cooked up in Netflix’s first ever comic book series that begins in The Magic Order #1.
The Magic Order #1 is expected to hit comic shelves on June 13th. And what’s really interesting about this release is that there won’t be any second printings. Millar explained his reasoning, “We want to get back to that crazy, exciting time where a first printing really meant something too and create a real collectibility here with NO SECOND PRINTINGS. We love the idea of making this genuinely sought after. So after inventory on the first and only print run is depleted, there will be no additional printings. That said, we’re very, very sure this is going to sell out, especially after you see the book and once you see the multimedia promotion that’s coming over the next three weeks.”
Will you be picking it up?
