Steve Rogers Returns as Captain America

Steve Rogers returns to assume the mantle of Captain America in Captain America: Steve Rogers. The title will be written by Nick Spencer with art from Jesus Saiz. However, he won’t be the same Captain America as Marvel promises he will have an all-new mission statement while also carrying an all-new shield.

“It’s an exciting time to be writing Captain America, for sure– this year is the character’s 75th Anniversary, not to mention the upcoming release of Marvel’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. And with CIVIL WAR II approaching in the Marvel Universe, it felt like the perfect time to restore Steve Rogers to his former self,” says series writer Nick Spencer.

Steve Rogers passed the title of Captain America to Sam Wilson when he was drained of the Super Soldier Serum significantly reducing his strength, speed, and endurance. With Steve once again assuming the mantle of Captain America, you are probably wondering what is going to happen to Sam Wilson? Absolutely nothing. Sam Wilson will also retain the title of Captain America. There will be two Captain Americas!

Captain America: Steve Rogers and Captain America: Sam Wilson will act as great counter-points to one another,” continues Spencer. “If you’re digging the topical, ripped-from-the-headlines approach we’re taking in Sam’s book, we’ve got plenty more of that to come. And if you’re up for a more timeless take, with Captain America facing off against Hydra and his classic rogues gallery, Steve’s book will be just the thing for you.”

Steve will be confronted by an old foe in Hydra as they infiltrate the Super Hero community. It makes anyone a potential enemy and he can’t trust anyone and he will be forced to discover what their ultimate goal is.

Captain America: Steve Rogers #1 will hit comic shelves both physical and digital sometime this spring.
