Valiant Unveils ‘Bloodshot Salvation’
Valiant has unveiled a brand new ongoing series Bloodshot Salvation which will be helmed by Jeff Lemire, Lewis LaRosa, and Mico Suayan.
Valiant promises “a bloody and vengeful new era for Bloodshot.” The story will begin with Ray Garrison escaping his violent past and building the one thing he never thought he could, a family.
Bloodshot has finally found hope for the future in the arms of his beloved girlfriend, Magic, and their unborn child. However, Magic’s estranged family comes calling and seeks to lay claim to their lost daughter. Bloodshot will be pushed back to the brink of madness, mayhem, and warfare as he faces an onslaught of blood, bullets, and broken bones in a revenge-fueled assault that will have crushing consequences for those he holds most dear.
And then eight years later, Bloodshot’s daughter, Jessie, inherits her father’s abilities, but is hunted by a high-tech kill squad called Omen. Jessie must master her powers and learn to survive before the world is swallowed whole by the darkness that now pervades America.
“I think anyone who becomes a parent, their world view instantly changes. [Bloodshot] is no different,” series writer Jeff Lemire told The Washington Post. “Being this character that comes from such a history of violence and has so much violence built into him, I think that would be terrifying. You wouldn’t want to bring that into your child’s life at all. I think that tension is exactly what the book is kind of about.”
The series will be broken into two timelines. The first and present day timeline will feature art by Lewis LaRosa. The second timeline will take us into the future with art by Mico Suayan.
But before Bloodshot Salvation hits stories you can get an introduction to the series and more specifically Jessie in Valiant’s Free Comic Book Day special, Valiant: X-O Manowar FCBD Special.
