Black Panther Audience Score Might Surprise Folks
Black Panther received rave reviews from critics and those who attended the World Premiere. In fact, the film received an almost perfect Rotten Tomatoes score when the first reviews came out. While, it doesn’t maintain a perfect critic score, it still sits at 97% on the Tomatometer.
However, audiences are now seeing the film and revealing their scores. The film currently has a 76% Audience Score from 43,493 reviews.
However, the Metacritic Audience Score is even lower. It sits at a 6.7/10. It has 72 positive reviews, 10 mixed, and 32 negative.
Here’s what some of the audience are saying:
Lydndon C. gives the film a 3/5 saying, “Some wonderful secondary characters but not a gripping spectacle overall.
Henry W gives the film a 2/5 saying, “Not bad, never had much interest in Black Panther and this certainly won’t be in my top 10 but still some pretty good action and a decent popcorn flick to tide us over before Infinity War.”
Dave A gives the film 2 and half stars out of 5:
“I felt the character while acted well is not enough to keep fully engaged with. Still worthy of its place in the Marvel cinema universe it wasn?t gritty enough to be serious or funny enough to be comedic (though Ulysses Klau has a great scene). Much like Thor Ragnarok needed Loki and pals I feel the Panther needs a friend to work off of. Though the news and media commend this movie for the all (except those 2 white guys and all the Chinese people) black cast they would be better directing this attention to the excellent Luke Cage tv series. Please do go and see this movie and make your own mind up. I hope you enjoy it :)”
Mark P also gave the film 2 and half stars, “over hyped and very disappointing. was it supposed to be funny? lots of laughter in the cinema but not from me. too much cgi and not enough story. best bit was Stan Lee’s 10 seconds.”
Liam B gave the film 4 out of 5 stars, “Good. don’t believe the hype though.
interesting messages worth contemplating, but unfortunately there were occasions where it just felt like another Marvel movie.”
However others raved about the film.
Tony A gave it 5/5, “The best MCU movie to date! If this is awesome what will Infinity War be like?!? Great stuff Marvel and that’s from a DC fan!!!!”
Yiorgos P gave it 4 and a half out of 5 stars:
“This an amazing and fresh take in the Marvel franchise!! The whole cast was superbly acted and the cinematography was beautiful. In a way it’s sort of like Marvel meets James Bond, for example Shuri (Black Panther’s sister) is a female Q by designing his suit and gadgets. It’s not a Marvel without a few funny moments. My only criticism is that it took a while to get to know the characters and Wakanda which was fair enough. It would be mainly for those who are not familiar with Black Panther and haven’t seen “Captain America: Civil War”. But towards the middle I say it dragged on a little bit, however it picked itself right up at the end. Also I may add, listen to the soundtrack. It’s lit??????”
Ian H gave it 5 stars, “Best marvel movie in a long time. 9/10. Enough said. Going to watch it a second time. *********”
Prince A gave the film 5 stars, “Great movie by all standards, nice cast and acting was on point.”
Kenny Tanh L gave the film 5 stars as well, “Better than I expected. Soundtrack is off the chain too! Great way to introduce another character, well done as always Marvel!”
It will be interesting to see how the Audience Score moves as more and more people see the film. As we saw with Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the film’s Audience Score plummeted as more and more people saw it.
