The Captain Marvel Hero Storybook seemingly confirms what many including myself suspected. Annette Bening’s character is the Supreme Intelligence. This shouldn’t come as that big of a surprise for fans who have been following all the news surrounding Captain Marvel. The trailers clearly paint Bening’s character as someone in charge, and the most logical guess for a powerful Kree would be the Supreme Intelligence.
While the storybook portrays the Supreme Intelligence in a human-like host or Kree-like host it’s unclear if she’s a physical manifestation of the Supreme Intelligence or if the Supreme Intelligence is actually in human form and no longer the giant green form comic book readers have become accustomed to. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bening’s human form is somehow destroyed, but the Supreme Intelligence’s inconic green form shows up towards the end of the film. Marvel has already turned a human into a computer-like being with Armin Zola in [easyazon_link identifier=”B00KNOXB7M” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Captain America: Winter Soldier[/easyazon_link].
Along with revealing Bening’s role as the Supreme Intelligence, the storybook also reveals that the Supreme Intelligence is either controlling or granting Captain Marvel her powers through a “photon battery at the base of her neck.”
The most prominent theory is that the Supreme Intelligence is controlling Carol Danvers, who is referred to as Vers because that’s the only identification they found on her destroyed dog tags.
However, the way it is described, it appears to be empowering Captain Marvel rather than holding her pack. In fact, it even says the Supreme Intelligence is transmitting her power through Vers. It’s possible it could be acting as both a control mechanism as well as a power transfer mechanism.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Supreme Intelligence suspects Ronan of trying to usurp their power and uses Captain Marvel as her agent in order to defeat him. It would make sense then for the Supreme Intelligence to transfer powers to Captain Marvel in order for her to combat Ronan and his allies.
As far as fan reactions, they weren’t happy about the Supreme Intelligence being portrayed as a human.
I need a face in a jar.
That’s not the Supreme Intelligence. Not at all.— Shaked Hod (@Shod2002) January 29, 2019
Ugh! Not down with this at all.

The Supreme Intelligence was one of the most interesting things about the Kree and it also would’ve translated well to the screen. I don’t get the decision to turn it into another humanoid or to change the cat’s name either.

Where’s the big giant head?!

What do you make of this revelation? Do you think we will see the iconic green Supreme Intelligence in Captain Marvel or will we just see this humanoid form? Do you think the Supreme Intelligence is controlling Carol Danvers?
