Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige recently lamented Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter role in Captain America: Civil War.

Feige’s comments about VanCamp’s role came in an interview on the The D23 Inside Disney podcast.

The Marvel Studios head honcho was asked, “Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter, I mean wow, she went really pretty dark. How will she be fitting into the future of the MCU?”

Feige responded, “Well, the Power Broker has been revealed. And what was fun about that, is again, Emily is a spectacular actor and we hadn’t seen her in a long time.”

He then proceeded to lament her role in Captain America: Civil War stating, “She got the short end of the stick when it came to the events of Civil War. And was sort of left out in the cold. And it’s interesting what she did with that.”

As for what to expect from VanCamp’s turn as the Power Broker, Feige wasn’t revealing much. However, he did say, “How she evolves and where so goes obviously remains to be seen. But the response to Madripoor and to her as the Power Broker was great.”

If you recall, VanCamp’s Sharon Carter actually played a pivotal role in Captain America: Civil War. She provided moral guidance for Captain America at Peggy Carter’s funeral, reinforcing his skepticism of the Sokovia Accords.

And while the Sokovia Accords plotline was eventually pushed to the background of the film in favor of hunting down Zemo, Carter also played a pivotal role in helping Captain America, The Winter Soldier, and Falcon evade Ross’ United Nations authorities.

She went on to provide them with their gear so they could fight back against Ross and the Stark-led Avengers in their hunt for Zemo.

While VanCamp’s Sharon Carter might not have had as much as screen time as some of the other characters, the time she was in the film might have been the most impactful especially the iconic speech she delivers at Peggy Carter’s funeral.

In the same podcast, Feige also addressed whether or not Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness would return.

He stated, “Well, that’s the same answer as before. Great character. Great actor. Great response. And why wouldn’t you want to work with Kathryn Hahn again. We do want to.”

Feige didn’t provide any other details on what Harkness’ return might look like.

What do you make of Feige’s comments about VanCamp’s Sharon Carter getting the short end of the stick in Captain America: Civil War?
