LEGO Releases New Trailer for The LEGO Movie 2!

The Lego Movie 2

LEGO just released their first trailer for their upcoming The Lego Movie 2 film and everything is not awesome!

Watch it below:

The trailer starts off introducing us to a brand new LEGO world. In fact, it’s been a “lifetime” since the events of Taco Tuesday. The LEGO world has hardened. In fact, it looks like the world of Mad Max has invaded LEGO.

And while most of the residents have hardened, one man has resisted the drastic changes of the world. Emmett Brickowski, voiced by Chris Pratt, is still enjoying his life. He’s not listening to Everything is Awesome anymore, but he’s got a new tune, Tween Dream Remix. He’s drinking coffee, saying hello to his fellow pedestrians, and just having fun.

But it looks like everything is about to change when some kind of spaceship arrives and begins shooting bombs of love at Emmett and Wildstyle, voiced by Elizabeth Banks. Once that first bomb goes off the trailer kicks into high gear as the Beastie Boys’ Intergalactic rages in the background. There’s a fun chase scene where the invader knows every move Emmett and Wildstyle make, the reason being that Emmett is using his turn signal. It’s a pretty funny scene and I definitely chuckled.

The spaceship eventually reveals a new alien invader and they defile Batman and abduct Wildstyle. But Wildstyle wasn’t the only one captured. The invader captured a number of other LEGO characters. It stirs Emmett into action and he mobilizes his own spaceship, which appears to be his house. He then launches it after the alien invader. As the trailer comes to a close we are introduced to a new star system.

Along with the brand new trailer, they released a poster yesterday.

The movie is expected to see the Lego characters face a brand new threat from space, LEGO DUPLO invaders, who wreck everything before they can even rebuild!

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part is expected to hit theaters on February 8, 2018. The film is directed by Mike Mitchell and Trisha Gum. It was written by Matt Fogel and Raphael Bob-Waksberg. It will star Chris Pratt, Alison Brie, Stephanie Beatriz, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Tiffany Haddish, Nick Offerman, and more.
