With this in mind, we’ve compiled a list of the Spider-Man movies in order, so you can watch them with the proper Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline in mind. All the Spider-Man movies and spinoffs are included in chronological order here without any spoilers.
1. Spider-Man (2002)
Peter Parker debuted in a live-action role for the first time in the film Spider-Man, released in 2002. The upside-down kiss between Tobey Maguire’s portrayal of Spider-Man and Kirsten Dunst’s portrayal of Mary Jane may still be considered one of the most famous kisses in the history of film.
Other memorable moments in this original film include Peter first discovering his “Spidey-Sense,” competing in a wrestling match as a complete amateur, and more. Oh, and it’s Willem Dafoe’s first picture as Harry Osborne/Green Goblin and J.K. Simmons’s first film as J. Jonah Jameson. Both of these characters are ones that Willem Dafoe and J.K. Simmons would go on to play in subsequent films.
2. Spider-Man 2 (2004)
After a devastating lab accident turns Dr. Otto Octavius into a supervillain in Spider-Man 2, Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man must battle Alfred Molina’s Octavius. Two years after the first Maguire film, Spider-Man rescued a runaway train with just his spider strength and web-slinging prowess.
3. Spider-Man 3 (2007)
Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy finishes with Spider-Man 3, which marks Tobey Maguire’s last appearance as Spider-Man (or so we thought). There were three critical villains in the first two films: Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), Venom (Topher Grace), and a reborn Green Goblin in the third film (James Franco). It’s the most divisive of the first three Spider-Man movies, but it did give us the black Spider-Man suit, so that has to count for something.
4. The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
It was Marc Webb’s first turn as director of The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012, and it was the first to feature Andrew Garfield as the web-slinging hero opposite Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy. For the first time, Peter Parker’s parents are revealed in this movie’s storyline. Lizard (Rhys Ifans), a disfigured scientist who had worked with Peter’s father, is the movie’s primary adversary.
5. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
As with the previous movies in the Spider-Man series, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 featured a trio of adversaries similar to those in the earlier films. Like, Second in the series, this movie introduced Jamie Foxx as Electro, Paul Giamatti as Rhino, and Dane DeHaan as the Green Goblin. It also set up Venom and the Sinister Six to appear in future movies.
6. Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Even though Captain America: Civil War is not a Spider-Man film, Tom Holland’s portrayal of the superhero was introduced to the public for the first time in this film. After becoming Spider-Man, Peter Parker (Holland) is enlisted by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) to fight with or alongside some of the MCU’s greatest heroes.
7. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Jon Watts directed Tom Holland’s first solo Spider-Man picture, Spider-Man: Homecoming, in 2017. There was a time jump from Civil War to follow Peter Parker as he contends with the combined demands of high school and convinces Tony Stark that he’s ready to join the Avengers. By hanging out with friends MJ and Ned, Peter continues to improve his skills as Spider-Man and intervene in crimes as the web-slinging hero.
8. Venom (2018)
While Tom Hardy’s version of the infamous Spider-Man villain does not appear in 2018’s Venom, their paths will intersect in future films in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man storyline. When Holland’s Spider-Man and Hardy’s Venom ever cross paths, it’ll be an exciting moment for fans of the web. It’s important to add this movie to number eight on your streaming list because you’ll want to understand the back story.
9. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Even though this Spider-Man story differs from those in the previous films, it is definitely worth viewing. A slew of Spider-Men from other multiverses, including Miles Morales, Peter B. Parker, Hailee Steinfeld’s Spider-Gwen, and more, occupy the cast. Whether you like animation or not, if you are a Spider-Man fan, Into the Spider-Verse is a must-watch for the unique portrayal of the hero and how it factors into the multiverse.

Set four years after another Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Tom Holland as Spider-Man unites with the Avengers to stop Thanos, the Mad Titan, on his crusade to collect the Infinity Stones.
11. Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Despite Tom Holland’s Spider-Man spending much of the movie in the background, he makes an important cameo appearance during the final act of Endgame. It’s also the culmination of 21 other MCU films with pivotal plot points for the entire universe, so it deserves a spot on your viewing list.
12. Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)
As a sequel to Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home opens in New York before following Tom Holland’s Peter Parker on a school field trip to Europe. But the cosmos has something more in store for him, and he’s not going to let it get in his way. Samuel L. Jackson plays Nick Fury, Cobie Smulders plays Maria Hill, and Jake Gyllenhaal plays Quentin Beck, a hero who claims to be from another dimension.
13. Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
Unlike its predecessor, Venom: Let There Be Carnage stands outside the Spider-Man flicks rather than being a straight sequel. As a result of this film’s post-credits scene, the two Venom worlds are brought closer together than ever before.
14. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
