New Birds of Prey Set Photos Appear to Show Joker Kicking Harley Quinn Out

More is coming to light about next year’s DC film release, Birds of Prey, now undergoing principal photography in Los Angeles. The latest bit of information concerns one very influential Batman villain we’ve all wondered about, the Joker.

Previous updates gave us a better look at Margot Robbie as the newly emancipated Harley Quinn walking the streets with new clothes and tattoos. About two months ago, we saw stills of her getting kicked out of a house; it was inferred she shared with the Joker.

No sign of the Clown Prince of Crime could be found and it was unclear if he was going to show up. But now it can be confirmed his presence will be felt to a greater degree than some ex-boyfriend off-screen who’s rarely mentioned.

Brand-new set photos put out by “BirdsofPreyDc” on Twitter show Mr. J physically throwing Harley out on the street — and her stuff along with her. She is outside in dismay as she watches her belongings land on the pavement before deciding to catch some of them.

More importantly, we can see Joker at the upstairs window, his face obscured. The actor playing the Joker is apparently not Jared Leto though he resembles Leto from [easyazon_link identifier=”B01M01CMIX” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Suicide Squad[/easyazon_link]. Being busy with Morbius, the Oscar winner and top-selling musician had an out when it came to a cameo — that is if he wanted to be in Birds.

Other pictures courtesy of “HarleyMovieNews” show Robbie in full. She collects herself after the devastating break-up and eviction. She stands wearing shiny pants and what seem to be fuzzy slippers.

Joker, of course, has his own movie due out in October that’s considered more serious than DC features will be for the foreseeable future. No one expects it to connect to Birds of Prey or anything in the DC Extended Universe. The presumed brief appearance here might serve as a final bow for the Leto Joker (and Zack Snyder’s continuity).

Out  February 7, 2020, Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) stars Margot Robbie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rosie Perez, Jurnee Smollett-Bell (sister of Jussie), Ewan McGregor, Chris Messina, and will introduce the world to Ella Jay Basco.

Cosmic Book News describes the synopsis as concerning a world without Batman in which Black Mask (McGregor) rose to prominence. Kidnapping a young Cassandra Cain (Basco), Mask wants to train her to be a master assassin. Only femme vigilantes Harley Quinn (Robbie), Black Canary (Smollett-Bell), and Huntress (Winstead) stand in his way.
