New Image Surfaces of Mecha Godzilla from Netflix Sequel
Netflix gave us our first look at Godzilla in their anime feature Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters. The anime feature gave us an ambitious Godzilla story where he now rules supreme over Earth. He chased away the humans who are now gradually dying off in a giant armada as they sought a new planet to call home. However, they are forced to return to Earth and reclaim it. But when they return to Earth centuries have passed and Godzilla has reshaped the planet in his image. A young man named Haruo leads the forces of Earth against Godzilla in order to reclaim the Earth for humanity.
The film is the first in a trilogy from Toho.
During the first film, it was revealed humanity had created some powerful weapons to combat Godzilla. One of those was Mecha Godzilla. However, the technical power house was believed to have been destroyed when humanity evacuated the planet.
But a recent photo shows that not to be the case.
Mecha Godzilla survived the battle against Godzilla in 2046 and it looks like it has been restored and will be ready to take on Godzilla in the sequel to Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters.
Take a look at Mecha Godzilla:
Translated from Japanese the Tweet reads: “The “Mecha Godzilla” which should have been lost at the final decisive battle against Godzilla in 2046. “GODZILLA Battle Mobile Proliferation City” is open nationwide in May 2018.”

It’s more than likely Mecha Godzilla will be used in Haruo and humanity’s war against Godzilla to reclaim the planet. We won’t know exactly how the two will battle until Netflix drops the second film in the trilogy this May.
Netflix’s Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters is directed by Yoshifumi Shizuno and Hiroyuki Sakashita. The trilogy is produced by Toho Animation with animation by Polygon Pictures. It’s the first animated Godzilla film and the 32nd Godzilla film. The voice cast includes Mamoru Miyano, Takahiro Sakurai, Tomokazu Sugita, Junichi Suwabe, Kenta Miyake, Kana Hanazawa, Yūki Kaji, Daisuke Ono, Kenyu Horiuchi, Kazuya Nakai, and Kazuhiro Yamaji.
Are you excited about the prospect of seeing Mecha Godzilla duke it out with the largest Godzilla ever?
