Box Office predictions for Warner Bros.’ Shazam! are in.
Our source provided us another email indicating that Warner Bros. expects Shazam! to have an opening weekend gross of $45 million and will bring in $150 million overall at the domestic box office. They compared the film to Sony’s recent release of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Not only did we get box office expectations, but there will also be early screenings for Shazam! on Thursday, April 5th at 4 p.m.
The expectations are in line with Box Office Pro’s prediction from February which indicated the film could bring in between $40 and $60 million on opening weekend. Deadline indicated the film would bring in $45 million on opening weekend.
However, it’s possible the movie might do a little better than just $45 million on opening weekend. The film recently had advanced screenings courtesy of Fandango and Deadline indicated the single day haul was over $3.3 million, outperforming Aquaman, [easyazon_link identifier=”B07816TG17″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle[/easyazon_link], How to Train Your Dragon 3, and Transylvania 3’s advanced screenings.

Sony’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle opened at $36 million, but would go on to earn over $404 million at the domestic box office.
Sony’s [easyazon_link identifier=”B07L9YXWSW” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse[/easyazon_link], which the film is being compared to, would open up with $35 million and go on to earn over $189 million at the domestic box office.
Not only did Shazam! have an excellent advanced preview day, but the film is being well-received by critics and fans alike. The film is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 93% Tomatometer score. And fans who have seen the film have nothing but praise for it.
It’s quite possible Shazam! might be a surprise hit!
Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, and Jack Dylan Glazer. The movie hits theaters on April 5th, 2019.
