Warner Bros. Releases Epic 5-Minute Godzilla: King of the Monsters Clip – King Ghidorah and Godzilla Throw Down!

Warner Bros. is doing some cross-marketing as they released a 5-minute exclusive clip for Godzilla: King of the Monsters on HBO.

Warner Bros. announced the clip with a short clip featuring Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance in his new role in Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

In the five-minute extended clip, we see the folks at Monarch including Vera Farmiga’s character awaken King Ghidorah, who is frozen solid in a giant ice block. Ghidorah’s awakening appears to destroy the entire Monarch research base as Farmiga’s character is able to flee in a helicopter. She also activates some kind of device that appears to be either translating Ghidroah’s sounds or allows her to communicate with the giant beast.

As Ghidorah awakens he looks to devour the humans who have been left on the base. Ghidorah begins smashing them with his wings before charging up his a lightning attack that completely destroys them. It then grabs a cargo plane from the ground and begins to chomp on it. However, before Ghidorah can finish the job and destroy the plane, it senses a presence. Godzilla erupts from the ice and stares down Ghidorah.

Before we get to see the big showdown between King Ghidorah and Godzilla, the clip switches to a shot off Mothra emerging from underneath a waterfall. Then we get a few actions shots with Rodan. There is one really gruesome shot as a fighter pilot ejects from his plane only to be devoured by the gaping mouth of Rodan.

As the clip begins to wind down, we get some dialogue that indicates King Ghidorah is acting like a Queen Bee in regards to the other monsters. The idea is that if humanity can defeat King Ghidorah they can defeat them all.

While Godzilla looks to face off against King Ghidorah, it appears Mothra will take on Rodan as we get some footage of the two battling each other. We even get a shot of Godzilla launching his devastating nuclear breath attack, but the ever-nimble Ghidorah is able to dodge it, and counters with a lightning attack.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters hits theaters on May 31, 2019.
