Netflix Releases New Trailer For Kevin Smith’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation
Netflix released a brand new trailer for Kevin Smith’s upcoming Masters of the Universe: Revelation series.
Take a look.
As you can see above, the story will primarily be about saving Eternia as magic has left the planet.
Lena Headey, who voices Evil-Lyn in the show, provides a voice over in the very beginning stating, “Magic gave birth to Eternia, the first planet in all of creation. But now, the magic is gone. Without magic, Eternia will rot and die. And as goes Eternia so goes the entire universe.”
And it appears without magic, Prince Adam tasks Teela with saving magic, but it appears she rejects the offer initially. However, it appears she will eventually be convinced to do so.
As for how the magic was removed, it’s unclear, but the trailer does show He-Man splitting the Sword of Power in two. It’s possible this could have removed the magic and might have been a last ditch effort to stop Skeletor as he besieged Castle Grayskull.
The trailer also shows Teela fighting He-Man, but it appears He-Man might be cursed or possessed, most likely by Skeletor. It’s also possible it could be Faker, who is used to impersonate He-Man and serve the forces of Evil. The trailer makes it very clear as they zoom in on his eyes as they glow red with malice.
As the trailer ends it does lead one to believe that Teela is successful in finding the divided parts of the Sword of Power and returning it to Prince Adam as we see Prince Adam transform into He-Man.
However, it’s possible Prince Adam’s transformation into He-Man might be a cut from earlier in the series and not after Teela’s mission.
Along with releasing the trailer, Netflix also released a description for the show via a press release.
It begins, “The war for Eternia culminates in MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: REVELATION, an innovative and action-packed animated series that picks up where the iconic characters left off decades ago.”
“After a cataclysmic battle between He-Man and Skeletor, Eternia is fractured and the Guardians of Grayskull are scattered,” it continues.
It concludes, “And after decades of secrets tore them apart, it’s up to Teela to reunite the broken band of heroes, and solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to restore Eternia and prevent the end of the universe.”
The show has been mired in controversy on whether or not it would sideline He-Man in favor of Teela. I’m not sure this trailer puts any of that controversy to rest.
Smith claimed back in the middle of June that the story trailer for the show would make everything make sense.
He stated, “Once you see the story trailer, kids, everything will make absolute sense. Anyone going like, ‘I heard it’s this…’ You are going to go, ‘Oh! I see.'”
He elaborated, “I love the story trailer because there is a line in the trailer, that comes straight out of the show, that literally puts it all on front street where you go, ‘Oh!'”
It does appear this is the story trailer as Smith shared it to his Twitter where he wrote, “THE BEGINNING OF THE END OF THE UNIVERSE starts now! See the story trailer for Masters of the Universe: Revelation animated series only on Netflix July 23rd!”
