Rumor: HBO Max Reportedly Developing a Blue Beetle Series
A new scoop dropped this week and it suggests HBO Max is developing a series around The Blue Beetle with current incarnation Jaime Reyes pegged as the most likely candidate.
This report (which is closer to a rumor) comes from Daniel (RPK) Richtman. He provided no further details and later deleted his tweet.

A Blue Beetle movie was first rumored in 2018 but not much concrete information has surfaced in the time hence other than there is a script by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer that may incorporate Booster Gold.
In relation to that story, 13 Reasons Why actor Brandon Larracuente documented his visit to Warner Bros. studios on Instagram in July, punctuated by a stack of Blue Beetle comics. A sharp-eyed fan took notice and disseminated the images on Twitter.

This fueled speculation Larracuente was in talks to star in the potential film. Now it seems he could be chasing the lead in a live-action series.

Reyes was introduced in Infinite Crisis in 2006. Created by Keith Giffen, John Rogers, and artist Cully Hamner, he and his wide array of alien-based powers became very popular. Appearances in animation – such as in Young Justice and Batman: The Brave and the Bold – helped solidify his status.
The first-ever tease of a live-action transition for the adventurer was in 2010. Geoff Johns tweeted about “a live-action test of Jaime Reyes’ scarab.” Cryptic and sparking rumors of a show at the time, it turned out to be for a Smallville appearance.
BLUE BEETLE NEWS from DCE!! We have a live-action test of Jaime Reyes’ scarab activating his suit. It. Is. Awesome.

Before Reyes was Ted Kord, created by Steve Ditko when Blue Beetle was adapted at the defunct Charlton Comics on the same roster as Peacemaker – a character readying for his live-action debut in The Suicide Squad.

HBO Max is also developing two original DC series based on Green Lantern and Strange Adventures. A miniseries adapting The Legion of Superheroes produced by Greg Berlanti is quite possibly on the table too.
