A new rumor claims that after wrapping her time as the main character of Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Third Sister of the Imperial Inquisitors – otherwise known as Reva – will headline her own spin-off television series for Disney Plus.

Word of a potential spin-off for Moses Ingrams’ Reva was first uttered by entertainment news outlet ScreenGeek, who in an April 9th exclusive reported that, according to their sources, “a Reva spin-off series starring Moses Ingram is in development for Disney Plus.”

Unfortunately, outside of its supposed existence, ScreenGeek admitted that they “were unable to get any plot details regarding the spin-off,” a lack of information which they particularly noted left it “unclear if [the series] will be set before or after Obi-Wan Kenobi.”

However, if a previous leak is to be believed, the supposed ending to Disney’s latest attempt at milking a once-beloved franchise will leave Reva’s life prior to the events of Obi-Wan Kenobi as the only viable story for any such spin-off to tell.

According to Making Star Wars, in the final episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Reva surprises the eponymous Jedi at Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru’s moisture farm after discovering his self-imposed mission to protect Luke, but rather than engage in combat, the Inquisitor instead has a flashback to her childhood which leads her to the realization that she cannot bring herself to kill the young Skywalker.

With her newfound conscience, Reva then allegedly turns heel and leaves Tattooine, leaving Obi-Wan to speculate that she had not yet been fully corrupted by the Dark Side.

Leaving the desert planet, Reva returns to Darth Vader, reporting to the Dark Lord of the Sith that she was successful in her mission to slay Obi-Wan.

Skeptical of her claims, Darth Vader then proceeds to kill Reva, ending her story prior to the events of A New Hope.

Though a Reva spin-off series presently only exists in the realm of rumor and speculation, an eventual announcement would come as little surprise to anyone who’s followed the timeline of her character’s story both in Obi-Wan Kenobi and in the real world.

Regarding the former, as many viewers have noticed, what was originally billed as a series centered around a fan-favorite franchise hero has quickly become the ‘Reva Show’, with most of the series’ focus landing on the newly introduced character and her personal struggles.

With the plot importance and spotlight placed on her character courtesy of yet another expectation-subverting bait-and-switch – especially if the above leaks regarding Obi-Wan Kenobi’s ending turn out to be true – many fans have already come to presume that Reva would be the next Disney original character to receive a massive marketing push.

In terms of the latter, it’s clear that Disney has been able to bank too much publicity off of Ingram’s identity as a black woman to shelve her character after only one appearance.

Between making headlines thanks to warning Ingram that any and all criticism of her character would be rooted in racism, ranking on the Twitter trending list for multiple days after issuing a series of self-aggrandizing late-night tweets defending the actress from a supposed-yet-barely-evidenced torrent of racist attacks, and Obi-Wan Kenobi receiving hours of coverage the topic in general thanks to their artificial ‘Star Wars fans are racist’ narrative, simply put, Reva’s character has likely proved far too useful of a virtue signaling tool for Disney to abandon at a time when their public image is in the toilet thanks to their going all in on both critical race and gender theory.

After all the Force is, as resoundingly declared by Star Wars head Kathleen Kennedy during the 2017 Archer Film Festival, “the Force is female!”
