Stranger Things Season 3 Delayed
Stranger Things Season 3 will be delayed according to Netflix’s Vice President Cindy Holland.
Holland spoke to reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour and confirmed the third season would not debut until Summer 2019.
She explained, “It’s a handcrafted show. [Exec producers] The Duffer brothers and Shawn Levy have worked really hard, and they understand the stakes are high. They want to deliver something bigger and better than what they did last year. And so they really want to take the time to get it right.”
Holland added, “I think it’s going to be a fantastic season. It’s gonna be worth the wait.”
The show had released a teaser earlier this year introducing the Starcourt Mall including Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream Parlor. The Ice Cream Parlor employs Steve and Maya Thurman-Hawke’s character who is described as an “alternative girl.”
The teaser hinted that Starcourt Mall would be coming next Summer which many believed was already a confirmation that Stranger Things Season 3 was getting delayed.

According to producer Shawn Levy Season 3 is expected to take place during the summer of 1985. Along with Maya Thurman-Hawke’s new character, the show will introduce Jake Busy who will play Bruce. His character is described as a “corrupt and sexist new reporter.” He will be joined by Carey Elwes who will play Mayor Kline. Kline is described as a “slick and self-serving politician.”
The story is also expected to move away from Will Byers, Levy confirmed, “We’re going to give Will a break. We’re not going to put Will through hell for a third season in a row. He’ll be dealing with stuff, but he won’t be at rock bottom the way we forced the amazing Noah [Schnapp] to play.”
However, Will will be the focus of an upcoming Stranger Things comic book series that takes place during Season 1 and recounts his adventures in the Upside Down.
Stranger Things Season 3 will be eight episodes. This is a return to the number of episodes from the first season. In Season 2, there were nine episodes.
