2 Fast 2 Furious Director John Singleton Reportedly in Coma After Suffering Stroke

2 Fast 2 Furious and Boyz n the Hood director John Singleton is reportedly in a coma after suffering a stroke.

TMZ reports Singleton suffered a stroke after he checked himself into Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after returning from a trip to Costa Rica.

They also report that his mother Shelia Ward is seeking to be appointed coservator. Legal documents they obtained claim Singleton is “unable to properly provide for his personal needs for physical health, food, clothing, or shelter.”

The Hollywood Reporter detailed that Singleton’s family issued a statement over the weekend that the Snowfall creator was “in the ICE and under great medical care.”

FX issued a statement through The Hollywood Reporter:

“We are sad to learn the news of John’s condition, but we know he’s a fighter. The thoughts and prayers of everyone at FX and his Snowfall family are with him and we are hopeful for a complete and speedy recovery.”

Many are offering their thoughts and prayers for Singleton.

Singleton broke out as a director with his hit 1991 movie Boyz n the Hood. He would go on to direct Shaft, 2 Fast 2 Furious, and Four Brothers. Most recently he’s been working on his FX series Snowfall and was preparing for Season 3 to debut sometime later this year.
