Valiant’s Britannia returns after 10 sold-out printings last spring with an all new miniseries, Britannia: We Who Are About To Die.

Once again Peter Milligan will team with Juan Jose Ryp to tell another gripping and brutal tale about detectionaire, Antonius Axia. Antonius will examine an absolutely ruthless series of murders committed by none other than the wrathful god Apollo. Axia must navigate the bloody halls of Nero’s empire from the gladitorial arena to the sordid palaces of the Roman elite.

Antonius Axia will be sent off on his journey after the paranoid and wrathful Emperor Nero targets his sponsor, The Chief Vestal, Rubria. Nero demands she return calm and order to the city after Rome’s elite begin seeing visions of a blood-soaked Apollo patrolling the Palantine Hill that are driving them mad. Others are becoming sick with fever god-dreams creating Panic in the city. If Rubria can not stop the madness, Nero will crucify her.

Rubria calls upon Axia to solve this mystery and gives him one clue, the gladiator Achillia. She is a female gladiator who has overcome near insurmountable odds, defeating five of Rome’s toughest gladiators by herself. Her latest victory has put her only one match away from attaining her freedom. However, the men of Rome have noticed.
