DC continues to ramp up the excitement for Scott Snyder and Greg Capulo’s upcoming event Dark Nights: Metal.

Snyder unveiled an absolutely epic cover by artist Jock depicting Batman wearing a very Jon Snow-esque winter coat, sitting down in a spiky iron-like throne. The rest of the Justice League stand behind Batman in the shadows.

The Game of Thrones imagery doesn’t stop with the Jon Snow coast or the iron throne, but if you look closely you can see Hal Jordan is wielding a medieval style shield with the Green Lantern logo emblazoned on it.

But maybe the most horrifying aspect of the cover is the fact that every single member of the Justice League has red, piercing eyes.

Dark Nights: Metal reunites The New 52 Batman team of scribe Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo. The two plan to tell a tale that will push Batman and the rest of the heroes of the Justice League beyond their limits.

Snyder describes the event as celebratory, “I’ve been planning METAL for as long as I’ve been writing Batman, but I want METAL to be built upon the stories happening now in Rebirth. Most of all we want to create new material that feels really modern and different. And above all, it’s going to be fun. Even with terror and nightmares, it won’t be grim. DARK NIGHTS: METAL will be celebratory, huge and crazy.”

The story revolves around Batman’s discovery of the Dark Universe. Snyder spoke to CBR where he noted the story follows three narratives, “one focuses on Hawkman, one is on Batman, and one I don’t want to give away.”

Snyder further explained what sets up the Dark Nights event, “The story is largely about the Justice League discovering [the Dark Multiverse] , and a certain member accidentally opening up a hole, and that Dark Multiverse coming here in a way that’s really, really dangerous and scary.”

Dark Nights: Metal #1 hits comic shelves on August 16, 2017.
