Mister Miracle and Sheriff of Babylon artist Mitch Gerads welcomed his newborn son into the world. Not only did he welcome him into the world, but he gave him a solid comic book name, West Allen Gerads.

Gerads made the announcement in typical comic book fashion, “We have a new release! I’d like to introduce you all to my new color flatter, West Allen Gerads!!”

Fans of The Flash will instantly recognize the name as Barry Allen’s wife’s married name. She went by Iris West-Allen starting in the late ’60s up until the 2011 Flashpoint reboot of the DC Universe’s continuity.

For fans of the television show, Iris West-Allen has played a prominent role in all three seasons so far since her name first appeared in a byline from a future newspaper in Season 1 Episode 1.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed Iris West-Allen would continue to play a major role in The Flash Season 4 with the marriage of Barry and Iris.

A number of friends and comic book professionals congratulated Mitch and his family on their newborn son:

We’d like to express our own congratulations to Mitch and his family! We look forward to West Allen Gerads hitting the treadmill and breaking some speed records!
