After a series delay, Dark Horse Comics will be bringing Jeff Lemire and artist Dean Ormston’s ongoing Black Hammer series to print this July.

Black Hammer will be a character-based superhero drama brought to life by Ormston and colored by Dave Stewart.

The story is set after the age of heroes has long since passed. The old champions of Spiral City, Abraham Slam, Golden Gail, Colonel Weird, Madame Dragonfly, and Barbalien have been banished from existence by a multiversal crisis. They now lead simple lives in a timeless farming town. But trouble has a unique way of finding heroes wherever they are!

“Black Hammer has been a labor of love for me,” says Lemire. “It’s a project that I’ve been working on in various forms for seven years.”

Black Hammer #1 hits comic book shelves on July 20th and will retail at $2.99. There will be a variant cover available from Jeff Lemire.
