At Emerald City Comicon this weekend, Valiant Entertainment gave us our first look at 4001 A.D.: Bloodshot #1 by Jeff Lemire and Doug Braithwaite.

In this high-octane one-shot, Ray Garrison the man behind Bloodshot is no more, but the nanites that once thrived inside him endure still. With Ray out of the picture, the microscopic machines that drove Bloodshot through every firefight, healed every wound, and calculated every outcome have one final directive left to execute, but what could it be? And how will the forces of the future react when the infamous man-turned-machine Bloodshot returns to fight another day?

4001 A.D.: Bloodshot #1 will explore how Bloodshot’s troubled legacy extends across the ages and directly into the crosshairs of 4001 A.D.‘s crusade against New Japan.

4001 A.D.: Bloodshot #1 hits comic book shelves on June 8th with covers from Ryan Lee and Cafu. The final order cutoff is May 16th.
