Since staging an explosive introduction during season two of Marvel’s Daredevil, Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle has made his mark as the Punisher. With that, he is now set to pursue his own series on Netflix aptly titled The Punisher. It will premiere this fall. In doing so, it looks like another alumnus of Daredevil will be right alongside him. Deborah Ann Woll’s character Karen Page is slated to appear in The Punisher.
If you’ve seen the second season of Daredevil you can see why Karen might be making an appearance. At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Deborah Ann Woll filled fans in on how their bond will be explored in the upcoming series. She also teased how Frank’s feelings towards Karen will affect the series.
“Frank has a soft spot in Karen’s heart,” Deborah Ann Woll explained. “And certainly with the dark history that Karen has, there are very few people she can share her authentic self with. Frank is someone who she could potentially fully open up to.”
Both Frank and Karen had to go through quite a bit in their lives. Both suffered trauma related to deaths of people they cared about, as well as being responsible for spilling blood. Their reactions and the ways each have coped with such events helped to bring them closer together.
Some fans have even suggested there might be some probability of romance between the two characters, but so far the bond the pair share, and has manifested is non-romantic.
The sharing of tragic events in most forms of entertainment seems to be used as a means to give characters a staging ground for romance, but in real life, the platonic bond people share is more common and quite powerful.
We’re going to have to wait until The Punisher’s debut on Netflix in November.
What do you think, will a romantic relationship develop between the two? Or not?
