Sony Just Released a New Trailer and A Ton of Casting Announcements for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse!

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Sony Pictures Animation just released a brand new trailer for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse as well as making a number of casting announcement for the upcoming animated movie.

Along with the trailer Sony confirmed that Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Liev Schreiber, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, and Lily Tomlin have all joined the cast for the film. They all join Shameik Moore, who will give voice to Miles Morales.

Jake Johnson will play Peter Parker. Schreiber will play the menacing crime lord Kingpin. Haile Steinfeld will play Spider-Gwen. Mahershala Ali will play Miles Morales’ uncle Aaron with Brian Tyree Henry playing Mile’s father Jefferson. Luna Lauren Velez will be Mile’s mother Rio and Lily Tomlin will give voice to Aunt May.

The film is being produced by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller the former directors of Solo: A Star Wars Story as well as the writers and directors of The LEGO Movie. Lord also wrote the screenplay for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The producers are excited about the project and the cast saying, “We are lucky to have such an amazing cast of funny, genuine creative souls to populate the Spider-verse. They have generous minds and great big hearts. And they have very talented throats.  Which is where their delightful voices come from.”

They added:

“We can’t wait for the world to see Miles Morales on the big screen. He’s such a fun and exciting new character, and telling his story through a revolutionary visual style makes for a totally fresh cinematic experience that, if we may say so, is freaking amazing.”

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will be directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman. The film is expected to hit theaters on December 14, 2018.
