Jared Leto dropped a short teaser for Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man spin-off film Morbius.

Leto is playing the titular character, who was originally created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane.

Dr. Michael Morbius, a renowned biochemist who was transformed into a pseudo-vampire, was originally a Spider-Man villain, but would eventually become an anti-hero within his own series.

Leto dropped the teaser on Instagram writing, “because no one else will walk this path…this place of shadows, where we do what must be done, no matter the cost. #MORBIUS.”

The teaser doesn’t really reveal a whole lot about Leto’s character. It’s possible he could be in mid-transformation and adjusting to his new vampire-like status given everyone around him has been sped up.

There haven’t been a whole lot of details revealed about the film. Some recent set photos revealed Doctor Who alum Matt Smith appearing to get in a disagreement with Leto’s Morbius. Smith is rumored to be playing Loxias Crown aka Hunger.

Morbius is being directed by Daniel Espinosa based off a script by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama. Along with Leto and Smith the film stars Adria Arjona and Jared Harris. Tyrese Gibson is also rumored to have a role in the film.

What do you make of this new teaser from Jared Leto? Are you interested in a Morbius film? Are there any favorite story lines you hope the film adapts?
