Cosplay: The Rising of the Shield Hero’s Raphtalia By Katyushacos

The Rising of the Shield Hero sports a rather colorful cast and one of the more popular characters is Raphtalia, a Demi-Human. Raphtalia begins the story as a slave, but later becomes the first member of the Shield Hero’s party and aids him on his journey.

Raphtalia’s origin is quite tragic. Her parents sacrifice themselves to save her during a monster invasion. After surviving the monster attack, all the Demi-Human adults in her village are viciously murdered by a number of Melromarc Knights. Raphtalia is captured and sold into slavery.

After months of imprisonment and torture, she was bought by Naofumi Iwatani, the Shield Hero, and given a new lease on life. After his purchase she joins the Shield Hero’s party. In the light novel she would eventually become known as the Katana Hero or Katana No Yuusha.

German cosplayer Kati, who goes by the Instagram handle Katyushacos, brings Raphtalia to life.
